Problem with GBT Socket 775 series motherboards and Leadtek Winfast TV Tuners

Problem

When using the Winfast PVR TV Tuner software, the volume and mute functions may be non-functional or there may be no sound even when using the remote control.

Reason

All the Intel based Socket 775 motherboards are using the 8 channel High Definition Audio.  The software is a little more complicated than the 6 channel audio and has problems when using the CD Line-In or Audio Line-In that is required for the audio for various devices like TV Tuners and even when using analogue CDROM Audio.  So far from our testing we can say that analogue audio is not properly supported by the CMEDIA software.  We have tried various drivers for the CMEDIA sound but to no avail.

Solution

We do not have a solution as yet since Leadtek is still working with CMedia to find one.  For now we can get the audio to work but the volume control would have to be controlled through the CMEDIA software only which would render the control of the audio on the remote and through the PVR software, useless. The procedure to enable the audio to play through the CMEDIA software is as follows…

  1. Connect Leadtek TV2000 TV Tuner CD Line out cable to the motherboard CD Line in Connector
  2. Install TV Tuner Drivers
  3. Then start the PVR software and set the following options as is in the image below.
Then set the CMEDIA software for the correct audio output settings.

Enable The CD Player options under the Volume control and then enable the monitoring feature on the CD Player record option.  Set these options exactly as can be seen in the image below and the make sure that the rest of the options are set exactly the same as the rest of these images.

We should have a solution within the next week.

An alternate solution is to use a PCI 5.1 channel sound card which works properly with the Leadtek TV Tuner products and the Socket 775 motherboards.

Products Affected

All Leadtek TV Tuner Products used with Intel Socket 775 motherboards with CMEDIA 8 channels Audio.
