Problem
Many customers are resorting to buying PCI sound cards when the Game Port Connectors for the Gigabyte motherboards are unavailable. When a PCI Sound Card is installed on any nForce2/nForce3 chipset motherboards, there is a conflict on the game port which prevents game pads, joysticks, etc from being used.
Reason
The reason for this is due to the fact that the nForce chipset motherboards have many devices that have resources already allocated to it. The resources needed by the game port on the PCI sound card, seems to be unavailable. This may be a restricition on these chipsets but we are not sure as yet since we have tried disabling all the devices and features and the conflict still remains. We have tried different Aopen and Creative sound cards and none of them seem to work with the nForce2 and nForce 3 series motherboards.
Solution
There is no solution available at this time. We have presented this problem to Gigabyte and are awating a bios solution to this problem. We should have an answer by early next week. |
