Problem with EA65 AV Edition with add on VGA card

Problem

  1. Add-On VGA card does not work in Instant On mode with the EA65.
  2. Other brand TV-Tuner card does not work in Instant ON mode with the EA65.

Reason

1. The EA65 Instant ON Mode is based on “Linux OS” and the Home Theatre is based on “Windows OS”.  The Driver that is written for the Instant ON (Linux OS) is only written for the Onboard VGA with the EA65.  If an AGP card is added to the system, the Instant ON Mode will not work but will work in Windows OS with the Home Theatre software.  The Instant On system does not support AGP VGA cards and can only work with the Intel Extreme Graphics that is onboard.

2. The same may apply if any other brand TV Tuner card is supplied or used with this system besides the one that is bundled with it.

Installation Tip…

1. Make sure that the Hard Drive that you are using is completely blank.  Do not format or prepare the partition.  Use the Hard Drive as is, if it is brand new.  If the hard drive has been formatted, this will not work because the Instant On will not install on a pre-formatted Hard Drive with NTFS or FAT32.  The drive has to be completely blank and can be done so using either Seagate Seatools, Maxtor Maxblast or FDISK.

2. To get the software installed correctly, please install the Instant ON CD first.  This uses about 110MB of the Hard Drive space and installs the Linux with the software to run the Instant On mode which creates the first partition.

3. Windows should be installed on the second available partition.

4. To install Windows on the Drive ‘C' letter, unplug or disable the USB devices in the Bios otherwise Windows will be installed as Drive ‘I:' and not as Drive ‘C'.  The reason for this is that the Memory Card Readers are connected to the USB on the motherboard and take up the drive letters ‘C,D,E,F,G,H' since the USB is enabled for boot up in the BIOS.

5. Reconnect USB Memory Card readers or enable in Bios after Windows OS installation.
