8VM800M-775 Memory Compatibility

Problem

When using Kinston KVR40X64C3A/256 memory modules the following symptoms may occur…

  1. Cannot complete the installation of Windows XP
  2. System may crash with memory dump or BSOD
  3. System may reboot randomly

 Reason

The current bios version F6, has limited memory support.

 Solution

Please update to bios version F7i.

We received a new bios version on Friday which has been tested and fixes the memory compatibility problems with the Kingston memory.

We have also found some compatibility problems with other memory modules and there may be more if the F6 bios version is still used.

The bios version F7i update has been sent to all the Rectron branches.
