Problem
When using Elixir 256MB or 512MB memory on the 8VM533M-RZ motherboard. Users will sometimes experience intermittent freezing or restart during Windows installation or during intensive application usage.
Reason
The motherboard seems to detect the memory timings incorrectly. The memory timings for the memory are 3-8-8 while the 8VM533M-RZ picks up the memory as 2-9-8. This is incorrect and will cause the system to be unstable.
Solution
At the present time, there is no solution to this problem. We are preparing a report for Gigabyte as this problem is highly intermittent and may be very difficult to replicate. Customer who may have installed this platform with a Northwood CPU may not experience this problem. This is mostly affected on the Prescott CPU’s with this combination.
We will have a solution ASAP.
