Problem
When using more than 1 set of Aopen or Logitech wireless keyboards or mouse in close proximity to each other there may be device malfunctions like the following…
- One ore more of the units may stop responding.
- The unit may interfere with the mouse or keyboard operations on another PC.
Reason
The wireless devices have a range of approximately 3-7 meters depending on the strength of the batteries and the interference in the specific area.
Logitech – maximum about 3 meters
Aopen – maximum about 7 meters
The reason why one or more of the units stop responding at times is because the system waits for the channel to be freed before it can accept transmission from the device connected to it especially if the device is less than the specified distance away from it. This is called “Jamming”
The reason why the unit interferes with the mouse or keyboard operations on another PC is because the device may be too close to the receiver attached to another PC and my be transmitting signals to the other receiver as well. This is called “Cross Talk”.
Solution
Since we are selling the Aopen and the Logitech range of products there are two sets of solutions. But the same solutions can be tried on the different manufacturer's products.
For Logitech it is best practice to keep the distance between systems to a minimum of about 3m. It is also recommended that the receiver be kept as close to the mouse as can be possible since this would increase the response time and the strength of the transmitting signal . If this does not work then try the following…
[top]
Jamming
- Reset the receiver's connection information by pressing and holding the "Connect" button on the receiver for 10 seconds. This will allow you to do a first time connection with the receiver and mouse or keyboard.
Cross-Talk
- Try to keep the distance between systems at least 3metres apart.
- Try moving the mouse closer or further away to the receiver to improve transmission and performance.
If the above two solutions for Cross-Talk and Jamming fails then try the following…
- Reset the receiver's connection information by pressing and holding the "Connect" button on the receiver for 10 seconds. This will allow you to do a first time connection with the receiver and mouse or keyboard.
- After holding the Connect button for 10 seconds, then press the Connect/Channel button on the bottom of the mouse to synchronize it with the receiver.
- If you have a cordless keyboard instead of, or in addition to, a cordless mouse, press the "Connect" button of the receiver again, then press the "Connect/Channel" button on the Keyboard. Perform these same steps on any other Logitech cordless devices in the area that are experiencing Cross-Talk or Jamming.
For Aopen products, the following apply
The Wireless keyboard and Optical Mouse operate on two respective frequency channels. To prevent interference when using two RF Optical Mice in close proximity, a different frequency channel should be used for each mouse.
Refer to the following to change the frequency channel for your keyboard and mouse: Set the frequency channel on the receiver to 1 or 2. Set the frequency channel on the keyboard and mouse to 1 or 2. The transmitter must be the same as channel setting on the receiver.
Connecting the wireless keyboard and mouse using ID codes
Establish a communication manually to the receiver for the keyboard and mouse.
1. Press the ID button to disable the ID lock function (the LED of right side off) on receiver.
2. Press any key on the keyboard and move the mouse.
3. Press the ID button on the receiver: the LED becomes yellow to show you that the keyboard and mouse IDs are connected and recognized. If the yellow LED light is off then the keyboard and mouse IDs are disconnected and may be experiencing some interference.

The Wireless keyboard and mouse ID code
Each keyboard or mouse is assigned a unique ID code when produced, so the receiver only picks up the signal from your keyboard or mouse to prevent other wireless keyboard or mouse radio signals from operating on your computer.
Other tips
- It is also recommended that the channels and frequencies be established first before the device drivers are installed.
- For an environment with multiple wireless keyboards and mice, it is best practice to install each system in 30 minute intervals. This is because when the receiver is first plugged it, it looks for devices that will be synchronized to it. Even after synchronizing your device to the receiver, it still "looks" for other devices for 25 minutes. If you install another cordless product at the same time in close proximity, it is possible when you press the connect button on the second cordless device that it synchronizes to the receiver for the first
Also…please refer to the installation manual for further details. Please request one from me if it is needed.
