Problem
We are currently experiencing problems with the K8 nForce3 series motherboards. We have had three issues at the last three road shows with the PC's with the K8 series motherboards rebooting and restarting when trying to run 3D applications or system intensive applications.
The problem as we have seen has taken place on the K8N, K8NP, K8NNXP as reported by Rectron JHB, Rectron CT and Rectron DBN using different configurations.
Symptoms
- The symptoms are, machine rebooting.
- Opticlal devices not seen after installing IDE drivers from GBT nForce3 CD version 1.0 especially DVD-ROM's.
Attempted Solution
We have tried the following…
AMD K8 3200+ CPU
AMD K8 3000+ CPU
GBT K8N
GBT K8NP
GBT K8NNXP
Transcend DDR400 (PSC)
Transcend DDR400 (Winbond)
Solution
We have to use the latest version of the nForce3 drivers to fix this problem. When this driver is used, the IDE channels work properly and the optical devices are seen properly. These drivers more importantly fix the rebooting issue and the system seems to work properly.
The drivers are version 3.13 and can be downloaded from the Nvidia website.
