improve the efficiency of a computer's power delivery and reduce the energy consumed when the computer is in an inactive state.
As participants in the Climate Savers Computing Initiative, GIGABYTE has committed to producing products that meet specified power-efficiency targets. By 2010, Climate Savers seek to reduce global CO2 emissions from the operation of computers by 54 million tons per year*, equivalent to the annual output of 11 million cars or 10–20 coal-fired power plants. This effort will lead to a 50% reduction in power consumption by computers by 2010, and committed participants could collectively save $5.5 billion in energy costs.
*Based on IDC projections of desktop and server units shipped, a baseline of typical desktop and server power consumption in the first half of 2007, and an average power cost of $0.0885/kWh. |
